God moved

Man in the Mirror Asia (MIM Asia) traces its roots to 2010 when Robert Lim was introduced by his pastor to The Man in the Mirror during a church men’s gathering. The message of the book stirred his heart and led him to examine his life and faith more deeply.

At the end of the book, men were encouraged either to pass it on or to gather a small group for discussion and mutual encouragement. Robert chose to start a group and prayed for a brother to journey with him. In God’s providence, he soon connected with David Ong, who was already using the book in men’s small groups. After meeting and praying together, they sensed God’s leading to gather men into an authentic discipleship journey through this resource.

What began with one man responding to the Lord’s calling through the message of the book has, by God’s grace, grown into a movement of men pursuing Christ together across Asia.

Timeline

2026

MIM Asia has grown to more than 120 groups across Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, China, Vietnam, Philippines, South Korea, and Nepal, impacting thousands of men through authentic discipleship and brotherhood. Many who complete the small groups go on to multiply new groups and partner with churches to establish clear discipleship pathways for their men.

2013

The first pioneer MIM group was formed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, bringing together eight leaders from different churches. They met faithfully for a year, completed the study, and sensed God’s call to multiply the work. As they embraced this vision, new groups began to form.

2017

Patrick Morley, Founder of Man in the Mirror Ministries (USA), and Brett Clemmer, Global President, officially recognized MIM Malaysia as the representative of MIM in Asia and commissioned Robert Lim to serve as Asia Director, with the pioneer team forming the leadership committee.
